In 1979, engineer Roger Hansen developed a highly efficient wood-burning fireplace that could operate using two separate air flow systems. This revolutionary design was the beginning of Acucraft Fireplace Systems. Built out of 7 GA steel with double welded seams and lined with firebrick, this fireplace produces up to 180,000 BTUs per hour. Over the years additional efficient fireplaces have been designed and constructed with the same quality workmanship. Acucraft Fireplace Systems now offers seven standard models.
Recognizing a demand for custom fireplaces, Acucraft began working with clients and designers to create totally unique fireplaces. This continues to be the fastest growing division of Acucraft Fireplace Systems.
New Cutting Edge Technologies
Our new fireplaces offer many cutting edge technologies. we offer a water loop that our customers use to heat there water with there fireplace. Many customers use the loop to heat the water for there in floor system, domestic water heaters or for close looped systems that heat there sidewalks, driveways and garages. Therefore, when you are burning your fireplace you are also heating your water dramatically reducing your electric or gas bill. With the goal of whole house heating with the elimination of cold spots within your home, we recommend a hot air distribution kit. This ducts the heat generated from your fireplace directly into other rooms, your basement or directly into your furnace. Anytime you are going down with kit, we recommend an in line blower with a variable speed control. Many of our customers use an thermostat on the fireplace to automatically turn on/off there fireplace blower. This thermo disc is mounted on the bottom of the firebox and turns on when it reaches 110F degrees and turns off at 90 degrees, this is appx 12 hours from last load of wood. If you select the water loop and/or the hot air distribution kit, you can wire the on/off for those products directly to the fireplace thermo disc. Therefore, when your fireplace is burning the fireplace blower, hot air distribution kit in line blower and the pump for the water loop all turn on automatically.
The diagram also shows we offer zero clearance panels and insulated flue, eliminating the need for masonry block, footings and clay tile. With this new design you are able to have the look of a large masonry firebox, but with out the expense of full masonry.
